The British Columbia Fuel Tax Refund program has smaller number of opportunities if you are not involved in industries such as Logging, Mining, Farming, and Aquaculture. The length of the claim period odes make up for this small opportunity (as you may go back as far as six (6) years ) for those who are involve in the Exploration and Servicing sector of the Oil and Gas Industry, Passenger Transportation (busing), and Transportation of Petroleum and Concrete products.
Due to the definitions of the types of vehicles and equipment that qualify, more time is required to properly review and define the vehicles and equipment that do qualify for the refund, as compared to Alberta. However, the length of the initial claim period being six (6) years also compensates for the extra time required to properly complete and file the claim.
